July Fourth!

Happy Independence Day!

When the fourth of July falls on a Wednesday it's no problem- the celebration just gets extended!

While the rest of the Boukater clan slept in- I was excited to again volunteer and then run the Peachtree.  I arrived at Lenox at 5:30 am and met up with Greg Hardwick (25 year crew chief of this bunch), Heather Hardwick Trainor (friend of 30 years and counting), John Trainor (her husband) and her sons William and Philip Trainor.  Jack has a knee injury but was along the route to cheer us on!  We corralled, directed, and defused excited, nervous and anxious runners for a couple hours, then jumped in the 10k at about 8 am.  Afterwards, as is tradition, the volunteer group met up at R. Thomas for a post-race breakfast.  What a great start to the day!

We had a fantastic dinner at Kate and Johnny's (as always.  I sure do hope we haven't worn out our welcome.  However, Brooke relieving herself on the microsuede couch might have clinched that for us), we headed to our new friends' house.  The Estradas have a fantastic view of the Indian Hills fireworks, and they shared their gorgeous lawn with 6 kids and a host of adults!  With Veronica opening her new bakery, Sugar Benders, soon I don't know how they had the time, but we were the lucky recipients of a delicious spread courtesy of the culinary expertise of both Tony and Veronica!

On Saturday we enjoyed a July Fourth-themed dinner at the Mansis.  While the kids had a great time with a craft and sparklers with Clayton and Cameron, we also had a delicious meal with Courtnay.  A fun evening for the Bs and Cs!
